We aim at documenting and interpreting the changes in the social worlds of industry employees in Poland.

More about the project »

Industry employees were a segment of Polish society particularly affected by the fast and radical changes brought about by neoliberal transformation of the 1990s. We are principally interested in the recollections of employees of those former state-owned-enterprises, which were privatised and restructured by means of foreign direct investment. This form of privatisation, an icon of economic transformation, was most clearly connected to the exposing of the post-socialist societies to the managerial cultures of corporate capitalism and at the same time marked an important chapter of globalisation.

We would like to thank our interviewees and the institutions that have contributed to the project.
